I’m from Mexico city but when I was 15 years old, my parents and I moved to Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico because they thought it was a safer place to live and it really is.
When I turned 20, I decided I wanted a big change in my life and I moved to Cancun where I worked in hotels for 2 years. I always had this thing of wanting to be where I’m not, so after some years living in paradise, I got a job as a babysitter in the United States. I lived in Washington DC for almost a year. Living there made me realize how wonderful it is to meet people from all over the world, to learn a new language and even more so to learn more about other cultures. So when I finished the babysitter program, I decided I wanted to keep traveling instead of going back to Mexico.
I saved some money and I went to Europe where I traveled alone for almost 2 years.
As much as I love my country, I knew I belonged to so many others places, I wanted to keep exploring and it was hard to think that I had to go back to Mexico after 3 years of traveling and being independent.
I traveled to four European countries and after that, I settled in London for 6 months, working and figuring out what I was going to do next.
I wanted to go back to Mexico for some months and then continue traveling, but in those months I met The One in London – and I’m happy to call him my husband now! He’s Portuguese and when we met he was on holidays in London. After some hard months of being in a long distance relationship, we both decided that I should move to Portugal, so I did!
It’s been 3 years since we got married and we started traveling and exploring this wonderful world together.
